Mohammed Shahriar Hassan is a dedicated and compassionate support worker and mentor with a strong background in human resources, mental health, and frontline care. Originally from Bangladesh, Mohammed holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing.

He brings over four years of professional experience working in human resources across IT services and hospital settings in Bangladesh, where he developed strong people-management, communication, and organisational skills.

After relocating to South Australia, Mohammed expanded his career into direct care and support roles. He worked as a security officer within mental health wards, supporting individuals experiencing acute episodes related to dementia, schizophrenia, depression, and substance use. This role required a high level of emotional intelligence, de-escalation skills, and the ability to remain calm and responsive in complex and high-pressure situations.

Mohammed later transitioned into aged care, where he adopted a more nurturing and person-centred approach while supporting individuals with similar mental health challenges. During this time, he completed a Mental Health First Aid course, further strengthening his knowledge and commitment to mental health care. He has a strong personal interest in mental health and regularly reads to deepen his understanding of best practice and lived experience.

In his current role as a Support Worker and Mentor, Mohammed has extensive experience supporting individuals with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability (ID), complex mental health challenges, and clients who are non-verbal and/or non-ambulant. He is inclusive, respectful, and affirming, and is a strong ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Outside of work, Mohammed is a highly accomplished Taekwondo athlete, having won gold medals at both state and national championships in 2025. In his free time, he enjoys reading, travelling, and continuing his Taekwondo training, which supports his discipline, resilience, and wellbeing.
