She has extensive experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability (ID), Down syndrome, and hoarding tendencies, as well as supporting people with complex needs who are non-verbal and/or non-ambulant. Shay is skilled in adapting her communication and support strategies to meet each individual where they are, ensuring dignity, safety, and meaningful engagement at all times.
Shay is deeply committed to creating inclusive and affirming environments and is a strong ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring that the people she supports feel respected, heard, and safe to be themselves. Her practice is grounded in empathy, patience, and a genuine understanding of the importance of consistency and trust in building positive support relationships.
Outside of her professional role, Shay places strong value on her own wellbeing and mental health. She enjoys spending time at the beach, exploring local cafés, and going on long, meaningful walks, which she sees as essential for maintaining balance, reflection, and personal growth. These activities support her ability to remain present, grounded, and emotionally available in her work with others.
